Cupid

Cupid is always associated with love and making people fall in love. The enduring picture of Cupid is a winged boy with a bow. Cupid fires his arrow at couples making them fall in love. Cupid's mother was thought to have been Venus, another name that conjures up love.

Cupid is the Roman name for him. In ancient Greece the God of Love was know as Eros, and Venus his mother, Aphrodite. There are many disputes that they are not the same but in any event they both have the same meaning - love. It is generally thought that Cupid's love for his wife Psyche may have been the reason the legend endures. Fact or fiction - no one really knows.
